The Tenerife Film Commission saw an increase in productions accessing its tax incentive in 2024 despite an overall drop in production compared to 2023.

In 2024, 35 productions accessed Tenerife's 45% tax rebate for foreign productions - which can rise to 54% - up from the previous year's 25 productions.

Total inward and direct investment from production in 2024 was €64.8m from 148 productions, down from the previous year's €103.4m from 163 productions.

This includes both projects completed in 2024 and the proportion of the budget implemented in 2024 by multi-annual projects.

Animation productions took up 32% of the total investment, with 4% of the investment exclusively coming from post-production.

In 2024, production work on feature films, series, advertising and animation generated 3,696 new hires for technical and artistic positions, up 12.52% from 2023's 3,281.

Tenerife hosted 11 fiction feature films. There was an increase in the number of fiction TV series produced at 14, compared to 6 the previous year. In addition, 36 commercial spots were produced.

The film commission also noted a preference for locations in urban environments, as opposed to natural spaces, on the part of the producers of series and feature films who have come to shoot.

International productions were led by Germany with 28 and the United Kingdom with 24. 31 projects came from other EU countries, while US and Canadian productions amounted to eight and three respectively.

Among the foreign projects that Tenerife hosted in 2024 were the UK's My Fault: London, serviced by Álex de la Iglesia's production company Pokeepsie Films; Swedish TV series Helicopter Heist for Netflix; and Sandra Wollner's Everytime co-produced by Tourmalet Films, Panama Film and The Barricades which was  awarded the Tenerife Film Commission's seal of sustainable audiovisual production thanks to the successful implementation of a sustainability plan.

Additionally, TFC developed 8 training workshops, which were attended by 145 trainees in total, including technical specialisation courses in budgeting and scheduling software; in subjects such as VFX and post-production coordination; and specific production roles such as assistant director, location scout, and eco-manager.
