The Whisper Man has added Michelle Monaghan of The White Lotus and Adam Scott of Severance to its cast starring Robert De Niro.
Production is scheduled to begin this spring on the east coast of the USA.
The film, based on the novel by Alex North, is directed by James Ashcroft whose credits include The Rule of Jenny Pen and Coming Home in the Dark. The scrips is co-written by The First Omen's Ben Jacoby and It's Chase Palmer.
The Whisper Man is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco for AGBO and is the sixth film out of Netflix and AGBO’s successful, ongoing partnership. Kassee Whiting executive produces for AGBO alongside Marcus Viscidi.
The story follows a widowed crime writer whose eight-year-old son is abducted. He enlists the help of his estranged father, a retired detective, but soon discovers a connection with a decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as The Whisper Man.
Previous films produced by AGBO for Netflix include 2020 and 2023's Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction and Extraction 2, and 2022's The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. Next up from AGBO is the sci-fi film The Electric State, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, with Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci.
