New York state studio The Lumberyard to go up for auction

Paramount Realty USA have announced that the Catskill, New York-located studio The Lumberyard will go up for auction on Thursday, March 20.

Originally listed for sale in 2023 for $11,500,000, the property is now available via auction with a reserve price of $6,350,000, a 45% reduction.

The Lumberyard features a newly constructed 20,208-square-foot production facility alongside three waterfront buildings totalling 13,450 square feet on a 1.06-acre lot.

The studio opened in 2018 and is a New York State qualified production facility (QPF), meaning it is a designated soundstage or production space that meets specific state criteria for film, television and commercial production. Facilities must be registered with the state and meet technical requirements such as soundproofing and industry-standard infrastructure.

Production companies filming at a QPF can qualify for New York State’s Film Production Tax Credit, which offers up to 30 percent in refundable tax credits on qualified production expenses, with an additional 10 percent available in certain counties outside New York City.
