Lionsgate sets new 'Now You See Me', 'John Wick' titles

The studio also announced 'Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping' and Feigco Entertainment's first-look producing deal at CinemaCon.

Lionsgate is developing John Wick: Chapter 5 with Keanu Reeves, Thunder Road, and franchise director Chad Stahelski as it unveiled ambitious plans for its John Wick Universe at CinemaCon on Tuesday that include an anime feature and another spin-off.

The John Wick spin-off will be directed by and star Donnie Yen, reprising his Caine character, which is scheduled to start production in Hong Kong this summer.

Franchise producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will produce through Thunder Road, alongside Chad Stahelski through his 87Eleven Entertainment. Mattson Tomlin, writer of the upcoming The Batman Part II, has joined to write the project. The previous draft of the screenplay was written by Robert Askins.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson also announced a prequel action anime featuring Wick, with Reeves expected to return to voice the title character in the film, which will be produced by the franchise producing team of Thunder Road’s Iwanyk and Lee, 87Eleven Entertainment’s Stahelski, and Reeves. 87Eleven Entertainment’s Alex Young and Jason Spitz are executive producers.

Animation veteran Shannon Tindle, who most recently co-wrote and directed Netflix’s Annie-nominated feature Ultraman: Rising, will direct. Vanessa Taylor will write the screenplay, having previously written and co-executive-produced Game Of Thrones and Divergent.

Additionally, Lionsgate Television, which produced The Continental: From The World Of John Wick for Peacock and Amazon Prime, is developing John Wick: Under The High Table, on which Stahelski and Keanu Reeves serve as executive producers.

Also announced at CinemaCon is a fourth instalment of the Now You See Me franchise, directed by Ruben Fleischer who recently developed the third in the series, titled Now You See Me: Now You Don't. Bobby Cohen, who originally developed and has produced all the films in the $687m global box office series, will produce alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.

Francis Lawrence is preparing for a summer production start on The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, which Lionsgate will release worldwide on November 20, 2026. Billy Ray, a writer on the first Hunger Games film and Oscar-nominated for adapting Captain Phillips, has been hired to write the screenplay. Color Force’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are producing. Meredith Wieck and Scott O’Brien are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson announced that Feig’s Feigco Entertainment has struck a first-look producing deal with the studio.
